have a sue pie

Berk invited me and Linc to do Havasupai with him a few weeks ago. It was super last minute, and we weren't even down there for 24 hours but it was by far one of my favorite things I did all Summer. We had lots of nice conversations because we had SOOO much driving time, and hiking time. The people we planned to meet up with ended up leaving right when we woke up the next morning but it ended up working to our advantage.. and I'll tell you why.

The whole place is different now because of the floods that happened in 2008 and so we weren't familiar with the falls. Pete told Berk to go to the first fall, but we didn't see them when we were hiking in because it was so dark. We decided to hit them up on our way out. We took a turn that we figured was right because we heard people. We ran into some locals and they said we were going the right way. It didn't really seem right because it was kind of difficult to get to and there wasn't any path. But once we got there we realized we found our own little spot. Just behind us were some cute little indian kids who shared there secret spot with us. It was one of the prettiest sights I've seen. It was a natural swimming pool. The water was refreshing and clear and according to the locals it's the deepest water and nobody knows about it. Win. Win. Win. Win. Wiiiiiiiiin!! The waterfall was gorgeous as well. I had fun watching the cute little kids show off, and they even kind of liked me. It was really funny one really big kid who was probably 15 tried to do a dive off the rock and he belly flopped it. The girls all openly laughed and I did as well. I felt bad so I tried to hide it :) It was pretty much a dream the whole time and I couldn't get enough of it. It took us longer to get out because we didn't want to leave, and Lincoln got hurt on his last jump into the waterfall. To add onto that I  had a hurt foot and it was the hottest time of day so we were slow. Berk ran the whole way out and even came back down to bring us more water. What a saint. We met a really nice Norwegian family that looked out for me and Linc, and when we got to the top they gave us Pepsi and water. The most refreshing thing in the world after running out of water on the hike up. We pigged out at Wendy's after. They were closing and gave us a bunch of left over chicken nuggets. Dream come true!!
All in all it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but so worth it. I've learned lately that when I do things just spur of the moment I have such a good time. Maybe it's because I don't have all these great expectations, who knows. I'm glad Berk is always so willing to let his little siblings tag along with him, he's  a really good brother.
