I had one of the best days with my family when I was home for spring break. It started out with a text from my sister asking if I would come babysit so she could make Ty go running with her. I happily agreed, even though it meant getting my lazy butt out of bed. When I got there Max showed me the awesome fort they had made, and he informed me that they slept in it three nights in a row. The visual made me so happy. He was feeling extra nice and decided to share his special baptism blanket with me. Hearing him say in is sweet voice "come on, have some blankie" still melts my heart. Which also makes me miss the days he couldn't live without his "so soft," but I guess I should be glad that he doesn't have to carry an old and torn blanket around with him at the age of eight ;)
After checking out the fort we had the best dance party we've ever had. We turned on the Happy song, and Everything is Awesome, and he was just pleased as peaches. He enjoyed the happy song very much, but when I turned on Everything is Awesome he went wild. Seriously, it's the only song that kid will dance to, but man alive, he dances. We got Ella and Tessa to join us, and we had a really good time. In the midst of our dance party my mom and Linc came over to come get us to go meet up with Brynne and Morris. They wanted in on the dancing so if you will, picture me, my mom, Lincoln, Max, Tessa, and Ella all having a wild dance party in Tessa and Ella's small bedroom. It was top notch.
After we finished dancing we went to go pick Brynne up from her sisters house and we headed to the park. I pretty much hung out on our blanket with my mom, Brynne, Morrie, Ella and Mitzi the entire time, while Lincoln, Tessa and Max were playing in a stream. It was simply the nicest. I mentioned trying the Worlds Best Corn Dog's while I was in town, and everyone pretty much jumped on the idea. And just like that, we were out. Max and Tessa were starving, so the 10 minute drive felt like an eternity to them. I've never heard anyone talk about corn dogs as much as I did in that 10 minute drive. They overheard me telling my mom how huge they were, so they felt the need to inform me every three minutes that they were starving, and would like their own. We invited Cass and Ty to join us, and my favorite comment made by Tyler was "Don't tell Mitzi where we are going, she might get freaked out." Max was having a meltdown because he wanted his corn dog so bad. And Tessa kept saying "Corn dog ate my corn dog." After our food was ready we drove on over to Bluff Street Park to eat. Holy smokes they were good. I ate the entire thing and I wasn't even phased, and Lincoln and Max pretty much ate two, but I think they were phased ;) We all loved them so much, and I'm not joking when I say that my mom wanted them for dinner the next night. I loved listening to her try to convince my dad and him saying, "I'll take your word for it." Her argument to that was, "But Nick, you are the lover of corn dogs!" I'm pretty sure I've never heard my dad talk about a corn dog in my life but whatevvver you say mom ;) Just so you know my mom did attempt to pick some up for us all but they were already closed. Okay back to the story-- we spent a while hanging out at the park and and it was just really, really nice. I know I am always saying how much I love my family, but I really mean it! I enjoy my time spent with them so much, and I feel pretty lucky to be so close with each of them. Also--can I just say that Cass and Ty moving back from Texas has been one of the best things ever. My happiness level has pretty much maxed out!
Wow, did I really just write a lengthy post about corn dogs??
"Heeeeey ladies"
I'm pretty sure I have a pic of Tessa standing by a tree in Texas wearing this dress, and posing the same way when she was Ella's age. Foooor fuuuun ;)
One second Lincoln was on the ground and literally two seconds later he was up in this tree. He practically jumped up!
I was singing "shake your groove thing, shake your groove thing" to Morrie, and I kid you not he really was wiggling his little bum.
i'm never going to stop commenting on your blog because i'm loving it sooo much. i can't get enough of the "heeey ladies" caption and the memory of this day. guess we better spend all of thursday afternoon at the park. oh and maybe you should just move into our house and be our nanny instead of mandi's. i think i need more help than her! *pshaw*
