Last week Katelyn Jones stopped by for the week on her way home from Switzerland! We decided to spend a day at Wicklow National Park with Mandi's nieces, Kaela and Adyia. It was quite the trek getting there but we had a good time, especially when we stopped at McDonald's and got the cheeseburgers we were dying for. There is seriously nothing like McDonald's in Europe. Anywhoosies we had to take the Dart (basically like trax) to Bray, and in Bray we had to walk to the town hall, and from there we had to take a bus to Glendalough. I was blown away by the scenery during the drive up. It was my first time to the countryside, and I felt like I was seeing the real Ireland for the first time. When we were dropped off at the visitors center we went inside to see if we could buy a poncho to cover my camera up with since it looked like it was going to rain. We walked in and the man at the counter asked if we needed help. Kaela misheard them and thought they asked how we were doing so she replied with, "We're all happy." The people at the counter gave us some funny looks and as we started to walk away they frantically stopped us and said, "nooo, can we heeelp you?" We all looked at each other confused. In my defense I understood what the man was saying, I just didn't know what Kaela was talking about. When we went over to the counter and said something else the man said, "ohhh, you speak English!" Then the lady was trying to explain something to us and Katelyn wasn't quite understanding what she was saying so her responses didn't make sense and the lady said, "are you drunk?" and then proceeded to recommend some hikes that are good for when you are a bit 'tipsy.' Now I'm not claiming that I haven't had my fair share of times where I am unable to understand the Irish, but this was not one of those times, so listening to the conversations was pretty dang funny. The hike we went on was more of a nature walk, but that was what I was wanting after a tiring week in Spain, and we still saw the prettiest of sights. I can't wait to got back. Hooray!
